2021 Edition 2

For our latest offering, we have incorporated a few new fabrics, and we’d love to introduce you!
The rib fabric used for the Amber pieces is knitted with 95% organic cotton and 5% elastane on a drop needle machine to create a heavier ribbed finish. All our cotton is certified with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which is recognised as the world's leading processing standard for textiles made from organic fibres.
The Marion intimates are crafted from a beautifully soft, lightweight, GOTS certified organic cotton (95% organic cotton and 5% elastane). Our original Spot and Wave prints are digitally printed onto the fabric by our team in India.
We crafted a blend from 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton for our Juliette pieces. We really wanted to showcase the natural drape of the hemp in our leisurewear. The fabric is durable and has a slightly textured finish that becomes softer over time. Hemp is an inherently sustainable fibre for a few reasons. As a crop, hemp uses much less water for a much higher yield compared to other fibres such as cotton or flax. It’s very durable and has few industrial byproducts, which is why we are so excited to be using it!
You may know by now that our collaborators in India work with chemical free plant dyes to create our vibrant palate, this range is no exception. The Colony Blue and Rust colours are derived from clitoria flowers and marigold flowers respectively, and the grass green is a combination of clitoria and tacoma flowers. We chose to include an undyed colour way in the Juliet range- as a more natural and minimalist option. Our fabrics all go through a chemical free bio-wash process which ensures a premium quality fabric that is resistant to pilling and shrinkage.
As always, NICO is striving to find more sustainable options and monitoring our own choices, to do better by our planet and it’s people!
