How did you enjoy creating the NICO at Home content?
It gave me a great excuse to buy a couple of giant bunches of gum from the markets on Saturday! Also I was stoked about how soft the new range is. As soon as I pulled on the blue set I knew I had a new go-to loungewear option.
What does self-care look like for you?
When I’m tired I can get takeaway food instead of cooking. I live in a postcode with beautiful green spaces and where it’s safe to walk at all hours. I can afford to go see a dentist… As a comfortably middle-class person it doesn’t sit right with me to give out self-care ‘tips’. The thing I personally struggle with is ‘switching off’. But honestly I struggle with that because my art is my work is my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
How does sustainability play a role in your daily routines?
I have never owned a car, which is one of the single biggest ways individuals have a negative impact on the planet. It’s not an option for everyone, but it is for me, so I do it. We live right near a train station and I like it when walking is a part of my commute or day. More time for audiobooks!
Tell us about your NICO Bra Fit experience?
I could only find a hardware tape measure, which was hilariously cold and scratchy! Thankfully I now have a soft, meant-for-bodies tape measure. But the actual appointment was super chill and lovely – seeing the different bra shapes with their different levels of support helped me articulate what I actually wanted and needed from the underwear in my drawer.

What does the perfect fitting bra feel like?
For me (I have D/DD cups) it’s different if I’m working at a desk or have a day running errands. I need the support of wires and a firmer fit and lift if I’m moving around a lot. But most of my working days are spent behind a desk, and the perfect bra for those days is softer and much gentler.
Your work has a way of highlighting injustice that has been hiding in plain sight and tackling issues that are frequently ignored. What drives you to continue to push through boundaries?
You know when little kids get upset and cry about something they always say, “But that’s not fair!” Basically, I think I never lost that (possibly immature) righteousness. I get mad when I see how phenomenally low the bar is for some people and how high it is for others. I get mad when the riches of the world are violently siphoned off for the few at the top. I’m a staunch anti-monarchist. We need universal early childhood education and care. It’s all connected. I just feel so grateful for what I’ve been given in life and I believe that when you benefit from a system it creates an obligation for you to leave things better than how you found them. Take some responsibility. One of the best pieces of advice I ever received was this: If you are ever struck by an impulse to be generous, act on it immediately.
What are you working on right now?
I’m editing my first novel. Fingers crossed it’ll be out next year!
